Mirabilia Urbis
Tales of art in Rome

22.10__10.12.2024

A project by Ivana Della Portella and Irene Berlingò

While Rome can be portrayed in many ways, our ambition is to do it with a specialized but at the same time evocative and captivating narrative, to explore the thousand faces of the city to make it accessible to enthusiastic and curious individuals, arousing their interest without sacrificing the quality of the approach.

Mirabilia Urbis is the title we have chosen in homage to the first real guide, compiled in the late Middle Ages, intended for pilgrims and visitors traveling to Rome. The idea is to address the story of the Eternal City, accompanied by scholars in the field, with lectio magistralis aimed at the general public.

Aeneas, the mystery of the Etruscans or the journey into the underground belly of the city, then Titian and Caravaggio up to Novelli and Twombly will be the protagonists of the stories. They will open the first season of this series of events related to the city that will take place starting from October 22 in the Auditorium room of Palazzo Esposizioni Rome.
