Clementina Panella, archeologist and tutor at Sapienza University of Rome, where she has taught Methodology of Archeological Research

The excavations conducted by the Department of Science in Antiquity of the Sapienza-University of Rome in the Piazza del Colosseo and on the north-eastern slopes of the Palatine Hill have made it possible to reconstruct the events that led to the settlement of these two central urban areas, from the pre-anthropic phases to the contemporary age. The story that is proposed here will focus on three hitherto unknown moments/monuments of extraordinary topographical, historical and artistic significance: a sanctuary from the archaic age (the Curiae veteres), a monumental fountain from the Augustan Age (the Meta sudans) and the insignia of an emperor from late-antiquity (probably Maxentius).
