L'innocente, directed by Luchino Visconti. Italy, France, 1976, 124 min.
The great director worked on transposing D'Annunzio's novel onto the screen and died only days before the first phase of editing was due to start. This artistic swansong in its "raw" version offers us a penetrating psychological insight into the prevailing spiritual mood at the turn of the 19th century.
