directed by Arto Halonen. Finland, 2007 (90 min.) - original version with Italian subtitles
Why are some of the world's most powerful multinational corporations so hell-bent on getting Ruhnama, an absurd propaganda book by Turkmen President-cum-dictator Niyazov, translated? Could it have something to do with this central Asian country's virtually unlimited natural resources and with its leader's megalomaniac projects? Midway between an investigation in best Michael Moore style and a voyage to the ends of the earth (and to the frontiers of a globalized economy), the director uses the incredible story of a book as a tool for denouncing the crimes of a dictatorship and the responsibilities of that dictatorship's accomplices.
