directed by Rob Lemkin and Thet Sambath. UK, Cambodia, 2009 (93 min.) - original version with Italian subtitles
The cruelty of the "death camps", the extermination tool adopted by the Khmer Rouge regime, still defies explanation even today. Breaking a 30-year silence, this documentary contains the testimony of those responsible for the slaughter and of their accomplices, from mere activists right up to Nuon Chea himself, Pol Pot's ideologue and second-in-command. Investigative journalist Thet Sambath, whose own family was exterminated, has spent the past decade tirelessly gathering their testimonies in an effort to understand and to recount his country's tragedy.
