directed by Petr Lom. Canada, Iran, 2009 (74 min.) - original version with Italian subtitles
After months spent kicking his heels, Czech director Petr Lom was finally granted what dozens of others (including Oliver Stone) have been denied, namely to record the activities of Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinezhad. Lom trailed Ahmadinezhad through the country's rural areas, where the president's support is concentrated and where thousands of people await his visits so that they can hand him letters containing personal requests for assistance. This film provides an unusual picture of Iran, revealing a social, political and religious complexity that defies our understanding.
