Surreal, baroque and pop at the same time, American David LaChapelle is one of the most renowned modern photographers. As from the nineties, his theatrical, fantastic, mocking creativity has crossed the languages of advertisement and fashion, with its excess, the ostentatious display of body, but also the bitter consequences as the coloured lights of appearance are turned off. A great exhibition in Rome (curated by Gianni Mercurio) shows his most recent works, specifically about the subject “Deluge” and “After the Deluge”: a mature and philosophical reflection, whereby everything seems senseless in a crumbling world.
