An extensive retrospective dedicated to the celebrated photographer Gianni Berengo Gardin (Santa Margherita Ligure 1930), who recorded and brilliantly interpreted the everyday life, changes and tensions of Italy and Europe, from the 1950s to the present day.

About five hundred images were on display, all in black and white, a technique which Gardin used almost exclusively. Sub-divided into thematic areas, the shots range from his first reportage for "Il Mondo" under Mario Pannunzio, to his series on the great Italian industries, the Romany gypsies, the psychiatric institutes, great architectural projects, and other topics.

Exhibition curated by Giovanna Calvenzi and Mario Peliti.
Catalogue edited by Giovanna Calvenzi and Mario Peliti, with texts by the curators and by Ferdinando Scianna, published by Peliti Associati, Rome 2001.
