Banned by the Communist regime for a long time, Zaorski's film tells twenty years of Polish history through the heartbreaking tale of a single mother and her four sons. The film was first screened in 1987, during the Berlin Film Festival. Critics and audience loved it, and it went on to win the Silver Bear. This screening of a rare 35mm print - provided by the Istituto Polacco di Roma – will be part of the celebration of 100 years of Polish Independence.
