(Trois couleurs: Rouge, 99 min., France/Poland/Switzerland 1994, original version with Italian subtitles) starring Irène Jacob, Jean-Louis Trintignant and Frédérique Feder

Valentine, a model from Geneva, happens to meet a former judge who is eavesdropping the neighbours' phone calls. Getting over her initial shock, she is increasingly attracted by the magistrate's human mystery. This film brings the Colours Trilogy to a perfect end and sums up Kieslowski's work, with splendid performances from the two leading players.

The film will be preceded by a screening of

Seven women of different ages

(Siedem kobiet w róznym wieku, 15 min., Poland 1978, original version with Italian subtitles) documentary

Comprising seven short episodes, each one devoted to a classical ballerina, from the youngest, a girl taking her first steps in the world of dance, to the oldest, who now teaches in a school, this film is one of Kieslowski's greatest documentary achievements, using different female figures to map out the existential stages in what is in effect a single life.
