Taking his cue from a photograph portraying a pair of smiling children the day after Warsaw was liberated in 1944, the young Kieslowski sets out to find the two kids who must have reached adulthood by now, offering us an opportunity to relive the conflicting emotions of that epoch-making event which concealed so many dramatic stories that history has forgotten.
