(Amator, 117 min., Poland 1979, original version with Italian subtitles) starring Jerzy Stuhr, Malgorzata Zabkowska and Ewa Pokas

Introduced by Jerzy Stuhr

Filip, a placid clerk, buys an 8mm camera and starts shooting films at home and in the factory, even winning a prize at a film festival. But his hobby ends up costing him dearly. This film is an outstanding reflection on making movies and on the inevitable loss of innocence that it brings both for man and for the images he produces.

The film will be preceded by a screening of

Slate

(Klaps, 6 min., Poland 1976, original version with Italian subtitles) documentary

Pursuing the leitmotif of a clapper board, this very short and amusing film consists of an assemblage of frames cut from the final version of The Scar (1976), Kieslowski's first full-length feature film to be distributed in cinemas and also starring Jerzy Stuhr.
