Introduced by Jerzy Stuhr

Antek Gralak has just been released from prison and all he wants is a normal life – a job, a wife, and a home – but even simplicity can turn into a utopian dream. This film was banned in Poland for several years because of footage showing a strike and of its courageous criticism of the society of the time.

The film will be preceded by a screening of

Factory

(Fabryka, 17 min., Poland 1970, original version with Italian subtitles) documentary

A day's work in the Ursus tractor factory in Warsaw, from assembly line to directive council meetings, but production targets are not being met because the factory does not have the equipment it needs. Kieslowski once again points the finger of accusation at bureaucracy, describing the absurd situations faced by workers every single day.
