The Decalogue 6

(Dekalog, Szesc, 58 min., Poland 1989, original version with Italian subtitles) starring Grazyna Szapolowska and Olaf Lubaszenko

Thou shalt not commit adultery. Young Tomek is obsessed with his next-door neighbour Magda. After spying on her with a telescope for some time, he decides to approach her and to declare his love for her, but the woman's reaction has dramatic consequences. This is an abbreviated version of A Short Film About Love, which was released as a full-length feature film in 1988.

 

The Decalogue 7

(Dekalog, Siedem, 55 min., Poland 1989, original version with Italian subtitles) starring Anna Polony, Maja Berelkowska and Boguslaw Linda

Thou shalt not steal. Ania lives with her mother Ewa, her father, and her elder sister, a university student named Majka. The truth, however, is a different matter altogether: Ania's real mother is Majka, whom Ewa deprived of her right to motherhood in order to cover up a scandal. One day Majka decides to abduct the girl and to rebuild a life for herself in another country.

 

The Decalogue 8

(Dekalog, Osiem, 54 min., Poland 1989, original version with Italian subtitles) starring Maria Koscialkowska, Teresa Marczewska and Tadeusz Lomnicki

Thou shalt not bear false witness. In the course of a seminar on ethics, Zofia, an ageing philosophy teacher, listens to the story of an American women of Polish origin. The lead role in the story is played by a Jewish girl who sought the aid of a Catholic couple during the war but was denied it. That is when Zofia realises that the story concerns her personally.
