A girl makes a pact with Death to bring her boyfriend back to life.  The pact specifies that she has to try to save another human being's life, but to achieve her goal she is sent to three different places at three different periods in history.  This Gothic tale, so amazingly avant-garde in its own day, is still touching and mesmerising today thanks to its outstanding visual quality.
