A psychopath is killing young physically handicapped women in a small New England township and his next victim is a dumb girl who is the governess in a well-to-do home.  In this archetypical product of the genre known as noir, rich in suspense and in symbolism, Siodmak offers us a masterly revisitation of the atmosphere of German Expressionism.
