A booth in the fairground, three wax statues of famous characters and a poet imagining their adventures, provide the frame for this spectacular blockbuster.  Split into episodes, this is a masterpiece of Expressionist imagination, transporting the spectator to a dreamlike and threatening world and plunging him into the nightmare of Jack the Ripper.
