A writer known for her fascination with major historical events takes us on journey of exploration through the literature of the Risorgimento.  Can the ideals, the hopes and the symbols of a generation of writers who passionately subscribed to the birth of a nation one hundred and fifty years ago still provide us with a "damn good read" today?  A century and half on, Elisabetta Rasì offers an interpretation of 'her' 19th century novels, conducting an assessment of the literature that is still vibrantly alive and of the works that have remained indissolubly bound to the rhetoric of the past.
