The frame and the threshold are the key elements for deciphering Paolini's installation entitled These and Those (The Enigma of Time), in which the face of a clock, quotations and self-quotations, a sequence of 45 projected images with visitors, heavenly bodies and an artist's tools and with the effigy of Giorgio de Chirico from his Naked Self-Portrait, dated 1943, come together to personify the enigma of a work of art. In this work, produced specifically for the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the artist uses the symbolic shapes of a frame and a threshold to maneuver the boundary of objects, declining his vocabulary in a series of variants that ensure its constant transmission and renewal.
