Young Jeffrey discovers a severed ear in a field. He brings it to the police, but then starts to investigate on his own and finds himself embroiled in a situation way over his head. One of the peaks of Lynch's art, this unique and shocking noir turns the genre upside-down with a visionary approach that still manages to leave audiences mouth agape. A few years later, the spirit and mood of the film will pop up again in cult TV series Twin Peaks.
