Cinemind is now entering its fifth year, but even after so many films and debates with directors and psychoanalysts, here at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni we still aren't cured!  We want to carry on exploring the workings of the human mind and using our movie theatre as a workshop for artistic and scientific debate.  This project is the only one of its kind in Italy to witness the participation of leading psychoanalysts, whose involvement is brokered by the Società Psicoanalitica Italiana, and movie directors invited through the good offices of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia-Cineteca Nazionale, who take time out after the screenings to debate their experiences and visions of the human being.  This year we will be looking at memory, the very essence that shapes our bodies and our emotions, linking past, present and future.  This year's title, Memory of the Future, is not intended to be a paradox; past experience actually is what determines the future, which would otherwise float on a void, a vacuum, and the conscious rediscovery of the past can help us to live the present and the future with greater freedom.  As we will be finding out from the films we are screening, experience and memory are often at variance with one another, forming knots around private or collective trauams that fuel repression and regression to the point of bewilderment.
