Violent life

Admission free while places last - reservations are required

directed by Paolo Heusch and Brunello Rondi. Italy, France, 1962, 107 min.

The desolate bidonvilles, life in Rome’s seedier neighbourhoods, mud and poverty: a group of friends vent their anger and frustration in nighttime gang raids, burglary and small-time theft. Based on Pasolini’s famous second novel of the same name, the film was released immediately after Accattone but it has a force and a troubled yet engaging essentiality of its own, far removed from the theorems of Pasolini’s filmmaking.
