directed by Matteo Garrone. Italy, 2002, 101 min.
On the dismal seafront of Caserta we track the morbid friendship between a handsome young boy and a dwarf taxidermist in cahoots with the local Camorra. Against this grey backdrop of solitude and urban devastation, the director reveals his extraordinary talent for recounting the sidelines of our existence, bringing the deepest dynamics of human sentiment to the surface likes nerves beneath the skin. The film won the Pier Paolo Pasolini Special Jury Prize for 2002 awarded by the Fondo Pasolini set up by Laura Betti.
Introduced by Matteo Garrone and Marco Delogu
