directed by Billy Wilder, starring Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine, Fred MacMurray, USA 1960, 125 min., b/w, DCP, original version with Italian subtitles
A clerk in a large insurance company tries to advance his career by lending his apartment to his managers for their affairs. Billy Wilder’s most creative work is also one of his best-loved and most successful films, winning five Oscars. Combining cynicism and bitterness with romanticism, it alternates painful moments with hilarious situations in a heartfelt exposé that points the finger at a vulgar, superficial and unashamedly sexist society, with unforgettable performances from Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon.
