Sunrise, USA, 1927, 80 min., Italian subtitles, directed by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, starring George O'Brien, Janet Gaynor
Beguiled by a woman in the big city, a young farmer leaves his family and tries to drown his wife, but he ends up changing his mind and starting a new life. Truffaut had no trouble calling this, one of the peaks of both Murnau's genius and of the silent movie era as a whole, "the best film ever made".
