Buffalo 2020, preview

Buffalo is a project devoted to performance art curated by Michele Di Stefano, co-produced by the Teatro di Roma – Teatro Nazionale and the Azienda Speciale Palaexpo

20 performers, 2 days and an endless number of kisses. The year is 1964. You are watching Andy Warhol's film Kiss. A series of silent kisses, a close-up shot of intimacy between people of different ethnic origin or of the same gender, no explanation necessary, a pure celebration of desire, love, freedom: everything that was forbidden in Hollywood at the time.
Now we return to 2020. Can a kiss still be a manifesto today? In the exhibition spaces of the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the performers kiss one another ceaselessly. Where does the performance end and reality begin? Who can say? You are urged to observe and to track this process of creation during exhibition opening times to the general public. Each intimate encounter will offer a new experience, always fluid and defying definition. Kiss is not a show, it is a radical and innovative proposal for living together on stage.
 

Buffalo will be staged at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni from 12 to 14 June 2020.
