directed by Billy Wilder, starring Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn, William Holden, USA 1954, 113 min., b/w, DCP, original version with Italian subtitles
The daughter of a very wealthy New York family’s chauffeur falls for the family’s unruly scion. Wilder puts Cinderella and Pygmalion together and brings them right up to date in the ‘50s to offer us a positive gem of a romantic comedy. Tailoring his direction and script to the grace of Audrey Hepburn, whose charms lights up everything around her, he conjures up an irresistibly dreamy atmosphere in what was to become one of the most successful movies of all time.
