directed by Joel Coen, starring Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter and Trey Wilson, USA 1987, 94 min., 35mm, Italian version
A bizarre, childless couple – she a cop, he a robber – kidnaps one of a wealthy merchant’s five twins, triggering a massive manhunt. A wild-eyed, cartoonlike parody of genres, the film alternates surreal and grotesque situations with dizzying scenes in which madness becomes run-of-the-mill, offering plenty of scope to an exhilarating cast of actors including, in particular, the wild-eyed Nicolas Cage and the irrepressible John Goodman.
