Picture a Scientist celebrates the experience and devotion of the women researchers who are writing a new chaper in the history of science. Biologist Nancy Hopkins, chemist Raychelle Burks and geologist Jane Willenbring reveal what women are still forced to put with even today in the field of scientific research, ranging from the subtlest kinds of gender discrimination such as being excluded from the addressee list on an important e-mail or being allotted a tiny laboratory to outright sexual harrassment. And they show how their struggle for recognition is crucial if we are to promote a more inclusive and fairer science open to all.
