(Usa 1973) directed by Peter Bogdanovich, starring Ryan O'Neal, Tatum O'Neal and Madeline Kahn, black and white, 102 min., 35mm, Italian version
In 1930s Kansas a travelling Bible salesman teams up with a nine-year-old orphan girl and starts to do business around the country. In this irresistible on-the-road comedy, Bogdanovich pays tribute to classic Hollywood thanks to László Kovács’s superlative black-and-white photography and to the astonishing performances of his two main actors (who were father and daughter in real life). Tatum O’Neal is still the youngest actor/ress ever to have won an Oscar.
Film introduced by Cristiana Paternò
