Music for a Day is a performative event lasting 24 hours without a break. It is played only once a year over what will have been a comprehensive cycle of 24 years by the time it winds up. The project, which has reached the fourth event in the cycle, was spawned by an audio piece by Canedicoda available on line at ottaven.bandcamp.com/album. In merging Music for a Day, which was recorded in a month, with the performative work of Roberta Mosca, the intention is to offer spectators the chance to physically and mentally inhabit a 24-hour time period as as single space. Neither a concert nor yet a dance performance, it is, rather, an exploratory and deeply immersive opportunity to search for states, conditions, limits and opportunities for perception in an effort to create a new space-time that is awkward or alienating yet at the same time recognisable, comforting or familiar. Enjoyment of the action becomes very drawn out, time is expanded. The spoken word, in many ways forbidden, yields its place to our interior voice, to observation, to breathing and to attention focused on the self.
 
Canedicoda is a multidisciplinary artist who works in the spheres of music, performance art, design and fashion. A pivotal figure in the circulation of trends in innovative and minority artistic, stylistic and musical research in Italy (see, for instance, his Fantastic Platform), he has cooperated with productive labels, not-for-profit spaces, and both Italian and foreign collectives and individual artists. Since 2003 he has been conducting personal research into artistic vocabulary, style and method, working with Marsèll and Marselleria, Netmage Festival, Live Arts Week, Le Dictateur, Plusdesign Gallery, C2C, Istituto Svizzero, Nero Magazine, Fondazione Bonotto, Viafarini, Far Festival and others.
