(USA 1990) by Joel Coen, starring Gabriel Byrne, John Turturro, Albert Finney, color, 115’, 35mm Italian dubbed version

Tom Reagan comes from an Irish family and is the henchman of a gangster. He's drawn into a gang war along with Verna, his boss' lover, and her brother, a bookmaker who cheated the Mafia. The Coen Brothers, at the top of their game, draw inspiration from Hammett in order to cleverly deconstruct and rebuild the gangster movie genre and show off a refined visual style, thus foreseeing the destiny of the American Cinema of the nineties.
