directed by Billy Wilder, starring Dean Martin, Kim Novak, Ray Walston, USA 1964, 125 min., b/w, 35mm, original version with Italian subtitles
A provincial piano teacher with a penchant for writing songs finds himself hosting a famous singer (and playboy) in his home. Bent on selling him his songs, he even goes as far as to mark his distance from his wife and pretend to be married to a seductive whore called Polly. Wilder is one of those directors capable of being both cynical and amusing at the same time, mercilessly poking fun at the society he lives in while simultaneously delighting it with an irresistible comedy of errors.
