A morning with the Swedish illustrator to discover the secrets behind the production of her illustrated albums.
A theoretical and practical meeting in which to experiment with techniques and to familiarise with her work.
Sara Lundberg
Born in Sweden in 1971, she began her training in the United States (McDaniel College, Westminster, MD) where she majored in theatre and art in 1994. At the start of her career, she worked chiefly as a painter, while also exploring the cinema. She won the Kolla prize in the ‘images in movement’ category with a video entitled “Cords. Hear us and have mercy” in 2008. At the same time, she gained a diploma from the Stockholm Academy, and since then she has been devoting almost all her energy to illustration, winning numerous prizes and awards in the process. “Le ali di Berta”, which was two years in the making, is currently her most daunting project with its almost 130 pages, all of which are illustrated. The project won her the August and Snöbollen Prize as best Swedish children’s book of the year in 2017. Orecchio acerbo’s catalogue includes not only “Le ali di Berta” (2021) but also “L’estate dei tuffi” with a text by Sara Strindberg (2022), “Un giorno sbadato” (2023), – nominated for the Nordisk Råds Litteraturpris 2023 and Orbil Prize 2023 – “Passeggiata con fusa” (2024) and "Nessuno tranne me" (2025).
