A young housewife suffers from temporary memory loss. One day, in a state of unconsciousness, she tries to kill her daughter. Her husband sends her to a psychiatrist: the doctor finds out the woman is affected by multiple personality disorder. Based on a true story, this was one of the first film to fully employ the tools of psychanalysis. It made Joanne Woodward's name, whose amazing interpretation was awarded an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.
