A girl lives an almost uncivilized life in the woods, with her father. She cares for a fox cub more than for mankind. After her marriage with a young Protestant pastor, she's seduced by an unruly nobleman, the girl unaware of the possible bad consequences. The conflict between flesh and spirit, the irrational spirit of Nature and the unavoidability of destiny make this flaming melodrama a perfect example of the work of Powell and Pressburger.
