Eddie is a young and aspiring pool player. But when he finally challenges Minnesota Fats, the great champion defeats him. Now Eddie has to train hard in seedy pool halls, among gamblers. He will finally have an epic payback. Surly, selfish and fragile, "Fast" Eddie is one of the best characters in Paul Newman's career, also thanks to the realistic direction by Robert Rossen and the superlative direction of photography by Eugen Schüfftan, who won an Academy Award for his work.
