A group of Sicilian miners sets out on a voyage of hope bound for France.  Germi travels the peninsula that has so recently adopted democracy and denounces its tragic human and economic rifts.  Written by the director together with Fellini and Pinelli, the film won the Silver Bear award in Berlin.
