(USA 1936) directed by John Ford, starring Warner Baxter, Gloria Stuart, b/w, 96’, 35mm Italian dubbed version
A doctor is sentenced to life for the killing of president Lincoln although an innocent man, and is imprisoned on a marooned island. When a yellow fever epidemic starts to kill people, he manages to have his freedom back by saving inmates and guards. Based on a true story, it is one of the director's less-known works, but it is nonetheless one of the great vintage Ford films, seamlessly mixing epic moments with everyday life, stamina with emotion, the sense of justice with the cult of bravery.
