(Hungary 1968) directed by Miklós Jancsó, starring Mari Töröcsik, József Madaras, Zoltán Latinovits, b/w, 76’, 35mm Italian dubbed version

Hungary, 1919: Béla Kun's Republic has fallen; the country is shaken by the repression. A humble farmer hides a rebel. But the relationship between the rebel and the farmer's family spirals into jealousy and doubts. An undisputed master of the Hungarian New Wave Cinema, with this film Jancsó achieves one of his best works: a radical view of power, shaped in a style that Wajda described as "a god-like gaze".
