Antoine Doinel is a restless twelve-year-old boy who is also something of a dreamer. When he is caught stealing, his mother agrees to allow him to be sent to borstal, but he manages to escape. This autobiographical first work has become a cinema legend, as capable of engaging our emotions with disarming simplicity now as it was when it first came out.
