(USA 1964) directed by Billy Wilder, starring Dean Martin, Kim Novak, Ray Walston, Felicia Farr
b/w, 126', 35mm original language with Italian subtitles
Orville is a small-town piano teacher and amateur songwriter. One day he happens takes in a famous singer, who's also a notorious womanizer. Orville is ready to do whatever it takes to sell him his songs, and tricks the singer into believing that Polly, a sexy prostitute, is his wife, and that she's ready to spend the night with the singer. Billy Wilder is one of the few directors able to make movies that are both cynical and funny, to lash out at society and, at the same time, to delight the same society with a comedy of errors that's impossible to resist.
