New York. Paul Hackett works as a word processor. He lives a regular, dull life, until he meets a mysterious woman who drags him into a crazy Soho night. Tossed around the neighborhood and baffled by the local artist population, he goes on to risk his life through an incredible chain of events. Director Martin Scorsese's career was reborn through this film, a low budget gem: half-comedy, half-Kafkan-nightmare, full of amazing energy, pace and ideas. Scorsese won the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
