(USA 1940) directed by Ernst Lubitsch, starring James Stewart, Margaret Sullivan, Sara Haden, Felix Bressart
b/w, 97', 35mm original language with Italian subtitles
Alfred works as a clerk in a small shop where he loses his head over a girl he's never actually met: their only communication has been through writing letters. He's unaware that the object of his heart's desire is Kara, a colleague of his that he keeps quarrelling with every day at work. Lubitsch's touch is here at its best: a perfect comedy masterfully played out, walking the fine line between romance and fun. An amazing cast, headed by the marvelous James Stewart.
