directed by Ennio Lorenzini. Italy 1975 (85 min)
This film takes a fresh look, with a contemporary critical awareness, at Carlo Pisacane's disastrous undertaking in Sapri which has traditionally been shrouded in a romantic veil. A wry yet fervent movie, it sheds light on the egalitarian ideals and immense revolutionary passions involved in the affair together with an awareness of its social and historical limits. The soundtrack of haunting songs by Roberto De Simone pushes the film along at the pace of a popular ballad.
