Starring Catherine Deneuve, Jean Sorel and Michel Piccoli.  France 1967 - Italian version (105 min.)
Buñuel chips away at bourgeois conformism from the inside, turning a beautiful but frustrated wife, stunningly played by Catherine Deneuve, into a prostitute.  The leading lady's dual personality is reflected in her constant vacillation between reality and a dreamworld. The film won the Leone d'Oro at the Venice Film Festival.
