The adventurous story of the pilots who took part in NASA's first space missions and, in particular, of Chuck Yeager who was the first man to break through the sound barrier in 1947.  The film is a successful mix of documentary and spectacular entertainment, thanks to its gripping reconstruction of events and to an excellent cast.
