Nelly, aged 18, lives with her adoptive mother in a small village. When her natural mother, who had abandoned her, suddenly appears on the scene, the girl decides to follow her to Stockholm. Bergman's film debut, though still green and troubled by numerous unforeseen events on the set, is absolutely worth rediscovering.
