This shocking journey into the poverty of Calcutta's red light district won the Oscar for the best documentary. Photographer Zana Briski gave the prostitutes' children a camera and photography lessons in an effort to teach them how to appreciate beauty and dignity, making photography their sole tool for emancipation from a seemingly sealed fate.
