(UK 1947) by Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, starring Deborah Kerr, Jean Simmons, color, 100’, 35mm original language with Italian subtitles
A group of young nuns is ordered to create a convent on the heights of Himalaya, in an arduous and timeless place. Isolation and the difficult relationship with the natives, as well as with an English officer, bring to light buried instincts and memories and end up pushing the community toward madness and violence. The film's color photography is considered a milestone of cinema, and the story depicting the conflict between idealistic will and earthly passion still leaves audiences with their mouths agape.
